Keelboat Sailing Education Comparison

There are three main streams of sailing education, here's how they compare.

Note 1:  The Glenmore Sailing Club covers Basic Cruising Standard content through two Modules. Upon completion of both Modules, participants who have demonstrated all the required competencies will receive their Basic Cruising Standard.

  • Keelboat 2 (Keelboat Skipper) - covers skippering a keelboat when lake sailing. This is the minimum requirement to sail the Club's Co-op keelboats independently.
  • Keelboat 3 (Keelboat Cruising) - covers navigation, tides and other coastal sailing content.

While courses by different national bodies generally cover the same content, there may be some differences. Sail Canada Instructors can ensure that candidates have the opportunity to review content in areas they may be lacking if needed.
